5/24/23

One more day of school!

Today, many of us showed our “We Can Teach” projects. We have a few more tomorrow!

We watched 3rd grade exhibition.

During Math, we tried the first 5th grade lesson using Zearn.

5/23/23

In Art today, we got to either free draw or we could organize the Twistables or water color markers.

We watched 3rd grade exhibition. We watched a project about art which was an inquiry of how we express ourselves. Mrs. Hyde gave us a souvenir from third grade which was a mechanical pencil.

In Math, we worked on our division paper where we had to do long division about a movie theater. After that, we could work on laptops with Prodigy or research for our “I Can Teach” project where we will teach the class a topic of our choosing.

We finished reading My Side of the Mountain and most of us finished our lapbooks.

In the afternoon, we watched The Three Piggy Opera performed by the kindergarteners. Lily and George helped by holding up signs to tell the audience to sing the part of the wolf’s song!

5/19/23

Today during Specials, we made a cement poem where we got to choose a topic. Mrs. Smith printed it out for us.

During Science, we looked at different animal’s internal structures. Then we did a test about internal and external structures.

After Science, we had lunch and recess. We read My Side of the Mountain and talked about the themes of the book.

Then we did research on our topic that we are going to teach to the class next week.

5/15/23

Today for Specials we had Art. In Art, we passed out our papers, so art should be coming home today.

In Math, we worked on more conversions. We should have our test on Wednesday.

Then we had lunch and recess.

After lunch, we had ELA and we went outside to read two chapters of My Side of the Mountain. We came back inside and wrote our concrete poems.

Then, we had recess. After that was Science. In Science, we did an experiment on our senses and Mrs. Johnson dissected a sheep’s brain.

5/12/23

Today for Specials we had Spanish. We made a wheels about what we like to eat in summer. Then, we had Math. After Math, we had an auction. After the auction was lunch and recess. Then, we had ELA with reading My Side of the Mountain and writing a poem. We had an extra recess before our normal recess. After recess, we watched the Missoula play.

5/11/23

Today for Specials, we had PE. We played Jewel Thief.

After Specials, we did math module 7, lesson 10. It was multi-step word problems with conversions.

We had Targeted Groups, then it was lunchtime. We had indoor recess, but it was so close to outdoor recess until it started raining again.

After that, we had ELA where we wrote poetry. They were free verse poems. Then we had Targeted Groups. Sadly, there was indoor recess again. 🙁

Then we had Science. We did a plant dissection.

Bob was also made.

5/10/23

Today for Specials we had Spanish.

In math, we worked on conversions of time.

We had targeted groups today for math and reading.

During ELA, we finished writing our clerihew poems, read our next chapter in My Side of the Mountain, and did some research on Jean Craighead George.

At the end of the day, we had Science. We talked about how our white carnations had turned blue by the blue dye and how that process worked.

5/9/23

Today, we had Music for Specials. We had our class performance and we got to play with the boomwackers.

Then, we had math. We worked on pounds and ounces conversions outside! We also had our class picture.

We had lunch and recess.

Sadly, we had to have the awkward talk about not having boyfriends and girlfriends in 4th grade. Boys and girls are only friends (space between the words). We also had to have another talk about spreading rumors about people.

We made a Mother’s Day gift.

Next, we read My Side of the Mountain.

We had recess, then looked at our radishes for Science. They grew. We drew a picture of them and labelled their parts.

5/3/23

Today for Specials we had PE and we played Battleship.

In Math, we refreshed our memories of gallons, quarts, pints, and cups and solved conversion problems.

After lunch, we had the Department of Wildlife show us animal skulls. We had to try to identify what animal we had by using tape measures to measure the length of the head, observing its eyes and teeth, and whether it was an herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore.

After recess, we took the chapter 9 quiz on My Side of the Mountain, then read chapter 10. We then researched the animal that we identified the skull of and wrote a paragraph on our animal.

5/2/23

Today for Specials, we had music. Then, we had testing. After testing, we had lunch and recess. We then did the squid dissections. After the squid dissections, we had recess. Then we had ELA which included reading My Side of the Mountain and poetry.
